LMS? Cloud?

Hello everyone,

Hope you're all good.

This week for 'Bringing Technological Innovation', we have been introduced to LMS. And by this cool abbreviation I don't mean 'Like My Status', even though I'm counting on you to like my posts (kidding)..(or not)..(seriously,like my post, I have no friends). Well, where was I?...This Monday, the class was interesting and we learned this brand new term.

LMS means Learning Management System. It manages the teaching and learning process. It is a cloud-based platform used for administering learning content, tracking and reporting learner progress.

Cloud-based platform? Yes CLOUD. (Just imagine a cloud as being a virtual space). There are companies who offer that cloud (space) as a service which enable users to store files and applications through the internet. Thus, a cloud-based platform is any software that is deployed in a ☁️environment rather than being hosted on a local server. Files can also be saved online and can be accessed anywhere from any smartphone/tablet/computer.

Coming back to LMS, some common examples of this system are Microsoft Teams, Moodle and Google Classroom, etc..

What's amazing about Learning Management System is that it gives us easy and flexible access to learning contents. Also, it is automated and can involve big class sizes. Parents can also be engaged in the education of their child, for instance on Edmodo LMS, they (parents), even rectors can be invited on the platform.

Quite great inventions right?

So yeah, that's it, I am looking forward to learn more and share with you. I created my Google Classroom and as soon as I start organising it, i'll blog my progress for you to see!

Cheers!
